Abstract

Field experiments conducted on the red loamy soils of Bangalore have revealed the beneficial influence of zinc salts on the yield of ragi (Eleusine coracana) crop. Spraying and pre-soaking of seeds with zinc sulphate solution resulted in increased yields comparable to broadcast soil application. Addition of copper salts to the soil has been found to improve paddy yield in some distinct soil zones in the Mysore state. The results indicate that the nitrogen content of sannhemp (Crotalaria juncea) andhorsegram (Dolichos biflorus) is increased with the application of salts of boron, molybdenum and vanadium.
