The uptake of Co, Cu and Mn by Phalaris minor Retz. (Chidia bazra), an important rabi [winter) grass, raised in pot culture under different fertilizer treatments and liming in the alluvial soil of Delhi was studied. The assessment for the trace element contents was made at the preflowering stage. Lime and superphosphate were found to enhance significantly the uptake of cobalt and ammonium sulphate and superphosphate that of copper. The manganese content of the grass under lime treatment was significantly higher as compared to others. Ammonium sulphate and superphosphate were found to depress the uptake of manganese. No significant correlation was observed between the uptake of Co and Cu, Co and Mn, and Cu and Mn by the crop.
