An independent method for measurement of cation activity in sodium bentonite suspension has been described in part I and the same, which is based on Donnan membrane equilibrium, has been used in the determination of cation activities in potassium and calcium bentonite systems. The results obtained are of the same order of magnitude as those obtained by membrane electrode method of Marshall.
