Abstract

Results of Simple Fertilizer Trials in the cultivator's field during 195%-59 in eight districts of Orissa with N, P and K alone and in combination on various crops like paddy, ragi, sugarcane, potato and moong are reported. The results indicate a universal response to nitrogen, and moderate to good response to phosphate and potash for all crops in all soil types. In trials to compare urea with calcium ammonium nitrate and ammonium sulphate nitrate as a source of nitrogen to rice, calcium ammonium nitrate was found to be superior. In another series of experiments, it was found that moong responds to phosphates and superphosphate was a better source compared to dicalcium phosphate.
