Abstract

In an acidic red loam soil, production of many upland crops increased considerably if soil acidity was corrected by liming before fertilizers were applied. Liming not only supplied adequate amounts of calcium to the plants, but also induced larger uptake of calcium and phosphorus from the soil and fertilizers applied.
