Abstract

The comparative influence of grasses and trees on soil fertility under natural conditions has been studied. Land under grass has been found to be richer in nitrogen, phosphate and lime and of higher pH than adjoining land under trees and bushes. It has been further observed that the grasses when supplied with phosphate are very helpful in increasing the soil fertility.
