Abstract

Superphosphate, amophos and Suphala were compared as phosphatic sources to flue-cured tobacco using P32 labelled fertilizers in a loamy sani soil and a black clay soil. From a detailed study made of the fertilizer phosphorus uptake, per cent phosphorus in the plant derived from the fertilizer and per cent recovery of applied phosphorus by the crop, it was found that Suphala was more efficient than the other two fertilizers in loamy sand soil and comparable to superphosphate, but better than only amophos in black clay soil in its efficiency as a phosphatic fertilizer.
