Abstract

Degradation of parathion (0, 0-diethyl-O-p-nitrophenyl-thiophosphoric acid) increased with the concentration, rise of temperature, time of exposure to ultraviolet light, increase of relative humidity, duration of time and soil pH. The per cent of degradation was of the order of alkali soil>acid soil>normal soil. The degradation of parathion was also dependent on the type of soil.
