Abstract

Lysimeter studies on the accumulation of boron fractions in soil profile under the influence of irrigation water of different SAR's (4 and 8) and boron concentration (0.05, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.0 ppm) were carried out- Boron concentration in available form and water soluble form (saturation extract) increased in the profile up to 150 cm depth. Maximum accumulation of the available form of boron was at the depth 30–60 cm and in water soluble form was at the depth 0–30 cm. Accumulation of boron in soil profile increased with the increase in concentration of boron in applied irrigation water. Increase in SAR of irrigation water decreased the accumulation of available boron and increased the water soluble boron in the profile. Application of irrigation water having boron concentration up to 1.0 ppm did not lead to accumulation of boron to toxic concentration in the short duration of 3 months.
