Abstract

With the addition of hydroquinone in the pure systems of ferric ammonium sulphate and ferric phosphate, both the pH and Eh values decline. Under waterlogged condition, soil pH. after slight initial depression, increases gradually to near neutrality while Eh values decrease gradually. Irrespective of days of submergence, Eh and pH values of submerged soil are lower with increasing soil depth. Water extractable phosphorus ani ferrous iron increase up to 20 days of submergence but decrease thereafter. Ferric iron declines sharply at the end of 10 days followed by a gradual decrease.
