Abstract

In a pot culture experiment, response of sorghum (Jowar CSH-1) to the application of iron in shallow black soils of Madhya Pradesh was observed. Availability of soil applied iron was low in these soils. Beneficial effect of soil application of iron was observed in soils where applied iron was available as evidenced by increase in iron concentration of treated plants and where the concentration of iron in plants in control pots was below 205 ppm. No relationship was observed between plant available and extractable iron by different reagents.
