Abstract

The fixation of potassium in twelve different broad soil groups of U.P. as well as in their particles was studied. It was observed that all the soils except those of Bundelkhand region fixed higher amounts of potassium. The fixation of potassium in Bundelkhand soils variedfrom 20.6 to 28.7 per cent while in other soils it varied from 33.0 to 47.3 per cent. The clay fractions of these soils fixed the major portion of total fixed soil potassium. Silt particles also showed considerable proportion of the total potassium fixed by these soils.
