Abstract

Addition of potassium caused higher fixation of added nitrogen in Purulia soil but not in Canning soil whereas, in both the soils fixation of added ammonium nitrogen increased with increasing period of incubation. In both the soils higher amount of added ammonium nitrogen was fixed when nitrogen and potassium were added simultaneously and the lowest fixation was recorded when potassium was applied three days before the application of nitrogen.
