Abstract

A pot culture experiment was carried out to study the sulphur and phosphorus uptake by mustard plants. Nitrogen and potash were applied as basal dose. There was more increase in available sulphur content of the soil when sulphur and phosphorus were applied in combinations. Sulphur and phosphorus when applied alone increased yield and nutrient uptake up to 50kg/ha level of both the nutrients. But when sulphur was applied in combination with phosphorus there was decrease in their uptake. A comparison of the yield data and nutrient uptake with S/P ratio indicated that most effective ratios are between 0.9 and 1.4. At wider ratios phosphorus uptake and yields are reduced.
