Abstract

Organic phosphorus contents during decomposition of S. aculeata and M.alba were in the order of normal<saline<<alkali at 30th and 60th days of decomposition but at 90th day it was in the order of saline>normal>alkali. Application of superphosphate increased the organic phosphorus contents. There was the maximum increase in organic phosphorus on the 30th day of decomposition in soils treated with young (60 days old) plants, while this occurred on the 60th day of decomposition in soil treated with mature (75 or 90 days old) plants. The trend of changes was almost similar in S. aculeata and M. alba treated soils.
