Abstract

Quality of some important drain waters in Haryana is evaluated to explore the possibility of reutilizing such waters. The waters of Karnal district drains has electrical conductivity of $$1000 micromhos/cm except TRI-I. Sodium is the dominant cation and most of the waters contain residual sodium carbonate but their amount is generally less than 2.5 m. e./l. Conversely, Rohtak district drain waters dominate in chloride and are characterized by absence of residual sodium carbonate except TRI-4 and Nohra drains which come from Karnal. The data presented show that the quality of these waters is within safe limits and can easily be utilized for irrigation purposes
