Abstract

Investigation on the effect of moisture content on the initial infiltration rate of the soil revealed a curvilinear relationship (Y = 12.716 e−0.1719x where Y = infiltration rate in cm/hr and X = percentage moisture on dry weight basis). However, between 6 and 20 per cent soil moisture contents there was a linear relationship (Y = 3.777–0.1727 X) with a high degree of correlation.
