Abstract

Volatilization losses of ammonia were studied under varying conditions of soil, methods of application, temperature and the nature of N carriers. The losses were found to increase with increasing level of fertilizer application, temperature and soil pH but decreased with the depth of placement. The losses were higher under waterlogged condition and on light textured soils. Among the N carriers the loss was maximum with urea followed by ammonium sulphate and ammonium nitrate.
