Profile Distribution of Sulphur in Some Soil Series of Sangrur District, Punjab

Distribution of different forms of S was studied in five dominant soil series of Sangrur district, Punjab. Except in saline-sodic soils, the content of org. S was highest followed by heat soluble, water soluble and sulphate sulphur. Highest amount of S was found in surface horizon; it decreased slightly in the rooting zone and was least in the last horizon. Sulphur distribution is strongly dependent up on soil characteristics like electrical conductivity, CaCO₃ and texture. Relation between varying forms of S is also an important factor in describing S distribution patterns.
