Distribution of different forms of S was studied in five dominant soil series of Sangrur district, Punjab. Except in saline-sodic soils, the content of org. S was highest followed by heat soluble, water soluble and sulphate sulphur. Highest amount of S was found in surface horizon; it decreased slightly in the rooting zone and was least in the last horizon. Sulphur distribution is strongly dependent up on soil characteristics like electrical conductivity, CaCO3 and texture. Relation between varying forms of S is also an important factor in describing S distribution patterns.
