Abstract

The influence of industrial and mineral wastes on the mineral contents of potato tubers was studied in the acidic laterite soils of Nanjanad (Nilgiris district). Six mineral wastes like floatation sludge, aglime, magnesite, furnace slag, flue dust and fly ash each at 5 and 10 tonnes/ha with FYM (10 tonnes/ha) and without FYM were tested. The ash content of tubers were not affected significantly by the treatments. The mineral wastes increased the P content of tubers in the presence of inorganic NPK fertilisers. Application of industrial wastes with FYM and NPK fertilisers improved the K content of tubers.
