Abstract

Two years field studies on wheat (K-227) and barley (C-164) suggested that their grain yield was not significantly affected when their seeds pre-soaked in salt solution were sown in soils having ECe 7.0–8.4 mmhos/cm, under highly saline irrigation water conditions in Rewari and Gurgaon areas.

It was also observed that pre-soaking of seeds with highly saline water used for irrigation, as well as, these low salinity drinking water usually resulted in more grain yield than when pre-soaking was done with sodium chloride or sodium sulphate solutions.
