In a laboratory experiment under the influence of added organic matter in recent alluvial, alluvial and laterite soils of Uttar Pradesh, higher amounts of added inorg. P as saloid-P were observed over those in control and also the conversion of added P into Al-P, Fe-P and Ca-P was found lowered in all the soils. The transformation of added P into different fractions in laterite, recent alluvial and alluvial soils may be arranged in the descending orders: Al-P, Fe-P, Ca-P; Ca-P, Al-P, Fe-P and Ca-P, Fc-P, Al-P, respectively. Application of org. matter @ 2 per cent was superior to 1 per cent in reducing the conversion of added P into Al-P, Fe-P and Ca-P.
