Abstract

Six rapid P soil tests were evaluated for rice on the basis of their correlation coefficients with inorganic P fractions, grain yield and total P uptake by rice plant in a pot culture experiment. Olsen's soil test was found to be the best as it gave significant correlation coefficients of the order of 0.9155 and 0.7062 with Al-P and Fe-P respectively, which contributed significantly to plant available. P as evidenced by the significant correlation coefficients of 0.7453 and 0.6767 for Al-P and Fe-P respectively with total P uptake and 0.5836 for Al-P and 0.5626 for Fe-P with grain yield. The significant correlation coefficient of 0.6430 and 0.4687 for total P uptake and grain yield respectively with Olsen's P further confirmed its suitability.
