The phosphate potential and lime potential of the alluvial soils of Andhra Pradesh have been studied. Based on the relationship between these two attributes judged against calculated data of solubility products of known Ca-phosphates, it was concluded that dicalcium phosphate was prominent in most of these soils, with admixture of octo-calcium phosphate in a few others. Formation of hydroxyapatite in any of the soils was ruled out.
