Abstract

Distribution of total and available cobalt in 8 soil profiles of different agro-climatic zones of Haryana was studied. Available cobalt was found to vary from 0.13 to 0.55 ppm in surface (0–15 cm) samples and it was low in two samples and medium to high in rest of the samples. Except the surface samples of Charkhi profile, all the profiles had total cobalt more than the critical limits.

Total cobalt was positively correlated with pH, silt+clay and total iron content of the soil. However, no such relationship was observed with organic carbon and calcium carbonate contents of soil.
