Abstract

Eleven varieties of groundnut were tested for their absorption and per cent accumulation of Ca and Mg at different stages of plant growth. The peak period for the absorption of Ca was found to be between flowering and pegging stages for varieties C 501, Faizipur 1–5 and HG 8 and the accumulation was 39.4, 37.2 and 41.4 per cent, respectively. Pegging to maturity was the peak period for rest of the eight varieties under study. The highest per cent accumulation of Mg was noticed between grand growth and flowering stages for varieties C 501 and Exotic 5. Flowering to pegging was the peak period for the varieties Faizipur 1–5, HG 8 and pegging to maturity for other groundnut varieties.
