Total sulphur in Rajasthan soils varied from 100 to 3250 ppm with an average of 1577.9 ppm. Medium black soils contained more sulphur than light ones. Variation in total sulphur was noticed with soil depth. Light-textured soils showed enrichment in the lower horizons. A maximum of 2.7 per cent of total sulphur could only be extracted by the methods tried leaving 97 per cent of the total as reserve or in unavailable form
