Perturbations in-wetting front and flow patterns during movement of water through a horizontal soil column are shown to be significant by some workers. A theoretical estimation of the perturbations is given on the assumption of initial impulsive motion. Estimation of the time period after which the flow becomes Darcy is given through a concept of boundary layer.
