The heat conduction equation has been solved for evaluation of thermal conductivity of soil by overspecifying the usual boundary conditions in terms of heat flux at the boundary surface. For the determination of thermal conductivity, heat flux needs to be measured at any one time instant ‘t0’ and the variation of the boundary temperature with time. With the knowledge of the heat capacity of soil, thermal conductivity value is explicitly obtained.
