Abstract

Seedling emergence of ragi was highest (83%) in soil having 10% clay. Decrease in seedling emergence in soils with less than 10% day was due to the reduced moisture content. The high crust strength of soil with above 10% clay limited the ragi seedling emergence. The role of sesquioxides was very less in crust formation as crusting is only a physical phenomenon.
