Abstract

An increase in the level of ammonium and the lapse of time resulted in greater fixation of potassium, and a maximum fixation was found in Dhankar soil. Maximum fixation of potassium occurred when ammonium sulphate was applied prior to potassium application, while the same was minimum when potassium chloride alone was applied. Simultaneous application of the two fertilizers fixed more potassium than when potassium was applied prior to ammonium. Dhankar soil showed maximum potassium fixation capacity while the red earth the minimum. A rise in soil pH was accompanied with greater fixation of potassium.
