Abstract

A greenhouse experiment was conducted to study the effect of different times of application of phosphorus and manganese on the yield of rice, mineral nutrient content and the available nutrient status of soil under two moisture regimes, viz, continuous submerged (W1) and continuous moist (W2). The results showed that application of phosphorus at the beginning of the vegetative stage followed by Mn at the reproductive stage resulted in highest increase in the grain and straw yield of rice in moist soil. The mineral nutrient content in the plant material also recorded marked increase. The results suggested that by such application of P and Mn, benefits of submergence might be achieved in moist soil.
