Nitrogen-Sulphur Ratio for Diagnosing Sulphur Status of Alfalfa

For predicting sulphur deficiency in alfalfa by using nitrogen: sulphur ratio, a pot culture experiment was conducted. The critical total N to total S ratio (N-S)_T was 17: 1 and 16: 1 in first and second cutting, respectively. The protein-N to protein-S ratio (N-S)_P in the herbage was nearly constant at both the stages of growth. Highly significant negative correlation between (N-S)T ratio and percentage yield was found.
