Abstract

Apparent self diffusion coefficients and uptake of zirc by corn roots were experimentally determined under varying levels of moisture, carrier zinc and phosphorus in an acid soil from Palampur. The results showed that an inrease in volumetric moisture content, carrier zinc and phosphorus caused an increase in DaZn and uptake values, besides enhanced depletion of zinc at the root surface Uptake vaiues computed from the relevant soil and plcnt data under the boundary condition of constant concentration at the root surface were generally slightly lower than the experimentally determined values.
