Out of three analytical procedures for estimation of sulphate-sulphur in solution, a colorimetric method using barium chromate with certain modifications introduced was found to give high values of recovery and reproducibility than the two turbidimetric techniques. The modified colorimetric method has been found to be quite rapid, free from most of the interferences and can be suitably adopted in routine soil testing programme.
