Interdependence among seven soil properties of the same soil series was statistically analysed with the help of partial correlation analysis. Stepwise regression procedure was employed to find out successive contribution of individual soil properties in explaining the variation in any particular soil character at different steps of analysis. The study provided numerical coefficients of interdependence which could serve as indices for comparing the role of various soil properties in inducing changes in another related property, and thus enables to understand the interactions going on within a soil system. The analysis explained the dominance of linkage of organic carbon with iron and carbonate compounds confirming earlier findings. It also pinpointed the important of silt in combination with clay and pH in influencing Iron oxide, which explained that most of the oxides and hydrous oxides of iron were associated with silt size soil seperates.
