Abstract

The distribution of urease, acid and alkaline phosphatases under field conditions at different ages of nine mesta (Hibiscus sp.) genotypes was investigated. The rhizosphere in all cases had higher amounts of urease and acid phosphatase. Alkaline phosphatase was not significantly affected by plants. H. sabdariffa cv. AMV-1 accumulated maximum amount of enzymes in the rhizosphere. The crop age of 20 to 30 days was found optimum for the accumulation of enzymes in rhizosphere soil.
