In acidic soil of Ranchi (pH 5.5), soybean and gram responded to lime and magnesium carbonate. Calcium and magnesium from different sources were equally effective in increasing the yield of both the crops. The highest yield was obtained with as little as 0.4 t/ha of Ca and Mg salts. At 4 t/ha lime and MgCO3, the grain yields of soybean and gram were slightly reduced
