Abstract

Thirty infiltration tests were carried out at randomly selected sites at the Haryana Agricultural University Research Farm, in order to measure quantitatively spatial variability of infiltration parameters. Fractile diagrams were constructed to determine their nature of distribution. Integrated parameters, namely infiltration at 15, 30, 60 and 180 min. and the derived ones viz, hydraulic conductivity and sorptivity were found to be normally distributed over space. The coefficient of variation of integrated parameters was lower than that of infiltration derived ones. Required number of infiltration tests for taking a representative field value, are dependent upon the interest, coefficient of variation, confidence limit and the level of accuracy desired.
