Abstract

Quantity-intensity relationships and linear buffering capacity of potassium were studied after the harvest o/bidi tobacco crop. Available potassium status of the sub-soil (15–30 cm) was higher than of surface (0–15 cm) soil, while Q/I studies showed that surface layer had more potassium supplying power than the sub-soil. These studies have indicated that the sub-soil from which the crop meets most of its potassium requirement during active growth phase (45–90 days after transplanting and later), limits the potassium uptake by the plant, because of its low ARK and high LBCK values.
