In greenhouse study, total P removal by rice and wheat was found to be correlated significantly with phosphorus supply parameter and cumulative release of phosphorus in three soils differing in their physicochemical characteristics. A highly significant linear relationship was also found between cumulative release and supply parameter indicating that either of these two indices can successfully define P supplying capacity of the soil. Results show that a lower bonding energy constant value is indicative of higher P uptake by crops.
