Adsorption of phosphamidon (dimecron) on montmorillonites was investigated in terms of isotherms, Langmuir equation and thermodynamic parameters-Langmuir analysis pointed to two regions with two distinct mechanisms of dimecron adsorption on the clay mineral. Langmuir constants reflected the magnitude and affinity of adsorption as influenced by temperature, concentration and exchangeable cations. Values of thermodynamic equilibrium constont, Gibb's free energy, enthalpy and entropy supported the inferences drawn. A mechanism for adsorption of the pesticide on montmorillonites is also proposed.
