Abstract

Field experiments were conducted to evaluate the suitability of lime requirement methods for an acid soil (pH 5.5) using soybean and gram as test crops. The data on yield, nutrient uptake and exchangeable K, Ca and Al in soil suggested clearly that lime requirement determined by method of Lin and Coleman (I960) was the most suitable one whereas other two methods (Dunn 1943 and Mehlich 1948) used in this study overestimated lime requirement and were not useful for the moderately acid soil of low CEC and organic carbon content.
