Abstract

Soils of Doon Valley forests under sal and two sub-types of mixed miscel’ laneous vegetation have been described. Comparatively less developed Lithic Haplustolls are generally associated with preclimax vegetation where dominant effect of grasses is reflected in their various characteristics. Argiustolls, Haplustolls Haplumbrepts and Haplustalfs have been recognised under sal and indicate that this species has greater edaphic amplitude. It was found that in addition to soils, the physiographic parameters and management practices also influence the pattern of vegetation.
