Abstract

An incubation experiment was conducted under laboratory conditions to study the transformation pattern of the added P into discrete inorganic P fractions under alternate wetting and drying and continuous submergence conditions in four rice soils. In all soils saloid-P disappeared even in the early stages of incubation and most of the added P was fixed initially as Al-P. Transformation of P into different inorganic P fractions followed almost similar pattern under both the soil water regimes. With passage of time, a portion of the Al-P was transformed into Fe-P in soils originally preponderant in this fraction and into Ca-P in the soil originally preponderant in Ca-P.
