Abstract

The effect of inoculation With Azotobacter and P-solubilizing micro-organisms and addition of Alussoorie rock phosphate (MRP) on the mineralization of N and P during composting of sugarcane trash was studied. Composting with MRP and P-solubilizer increased available P content and this was further increased by inoculation with cellulolytic fungi. Inoculation of Azotobacter increased the N content in compost. The number of nodules, nitrogenase activity of nodules and grain and straw yield of green gram were highest in treatment receiving combined inocula with MRP.
