Abstract

A pot experiment was conducted with P deficient sandy loam soil to study the effect of fourlevels of P (0, 20, 40 and 60 ppm) on three cultivars of forage sorghum; HC-l7], PC-1 and S-386. Plants were harvested at growing point differentiation, boot and soft dough stage. Dry matter yield of both shoots and roots increased significantly with P application and resvonse was better up to 40 ppm P. Cuitivar PC-1 yielded maximum. HCN content in shoots decreased significantly due to P application and With the advancement of crop growth. Cuitivar PC-1 had lowest HCN. Application of Presulted in higher WDMD values and lower crude protein content.Among cultivars, PC-1 and S-386 had significantly higher values of WDMD and crude protein than HC-171. ADF and NDF were not affected by P fertilization add were lower in PC-1.
