Abstract

Adsorption of zinc by normal and salt affected soils fitted in the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The maximum adsorption of normal Vertisol is about 2 g kg−1 and that for salt affected soil is about 5.4 g kg−1. The bonding energy constant of normal soils was higher (3.4 L kg−1) than that of salt affected soils (0.5 L kg−1). Release of Na, K and Ca + Mg was more with the zinc adsorption in salt affected soils compared to normal soils.
