Abstract

Ambegaon tehsil of Pune district representing apart of western Maharashtra was surveyed to bring out the basic soil information for suitable land use pattern. Four physiographic units viz. hills, plateau, pediment and piedmont plains were identified. Hills are under forest, plateau are under forest and cultivations. Areas representing pedimentare under single kharif crop with rabi crops inpatches while piedmont plains are generally under intensive cultivation. A soil map has been prepared at the level of series association and an attempt has been made fora proper land use.
