In maize and wheat crops, grown in a sequence fertilizers were applied according to targeted yield approach. Soil samples (0-15cm) were collected before sowing of each crop and analysed for available N, P, K and S. Post-harvest soil test values after individual crops and also after cropping sequence were predicted with grain yield, initial soil test values and fertilizer doses applied. Correlations showed that there was a close agreement between actual and predicted soil test values of available N, P, K and S after the individual crops and also after the cropping sequence. These predictions will enable in formulating fertilizer recommendations for cropping sequence based on initial soil test values and will also improve the over all fertilizer use efficiency.
